We at Moralis are overjoyed to formally be unveiling the Moralis Avalanche Hackathon! This hackathon will see us join forces with our friends over at Avalanche, along with a number of sponsors, to accelerate the process of building dApps, DeFi projects and Web3 apps!
Specifically, Moralis and Avalanche are now announcing the joint, Winter 2021 Moralis Avalanche Hackathon. The Moralis Avalanche Hackathon will allow developers to challenge themselves in building Avalanche-based Web3 apps, dApps, or DeFi projects with the help of Moralis, the definitive Web3 development platform.
As if this wasn’t enough, developers will also face off for a total prize pool of $350,000, at the time of writing. Moreover, those building with both Avalanche and Moralis will qualify for the three top prizes, which have a total prize pool of over $100,000.
The Moralis Avalanche Hackathon
There’s plenty of time to prepare! The Moralis Avalanche Hackathon will kick off on December 6th, 2021. Following this, the hackathon will run throughout December and January, until its deadline on January 31st, 2022. Those who submit their project before the deadline will be reviewed by a panel of judges, judging from five criteria, and the lucky winners will be revealed during the Moralis Avalanche Hackathon Closing Ceremony on February 16th, 2022.
This hackathon is the perfect opportunity for you to create either your first dApp, or the DeFi app you’ve been dreaming about. Moralis’ plug-and-play functionality makes creating Web3 apps a breeze, and offers full support for Avalanche.
Moreover, the total prize pool for the Moralis Avalanche Hackathon is $350,000. at the time of writing. Just the three top prizes, which all projects that build using Moralis and Avalanche are eligible for, total more than $100,000. We will announce more prize pools from partners before the hackathon officially begins on December 6th, 2021.
So far, official partners include Covalent, BenQi, Trader Joe, Avalaunch, Yield Yak, Penguin Finance, Pangolin, and Snowball. In addition to these, there’s also a number of confirmed VCs contributing, such as AP Capital, GBVCapital, Gerstenbrot Capital, Republic Capital, Three Arrows Capital, GSR and Alameda Ventures.

- Receive your hackathon email with more instructions
- Build your dApp (use both Avalanche and Moralis to qualify for the top prize pools).
- Make sure it’s great!
- Submit your dApp, DeFi or Web3 app before the January 31st, 2022 hackathon deadline.
- A hackathon jury decides the winners
Specifically, the hackathon participants will be rated by the judges according to five core criteria; Execution, Impact, Design, Creativity and Utility. The full details regarding these are available on the official hackathon page.
