Moralis Partners with Polygon for 2021 Moralis Hackathon

Table of Contents

We’re hugely excited to announce Polygon as an official partner to the 2021 Moralis Hackathon!

Polygon (Previously Matic Network) – Official Partner to the 2021 Moralis Hackathon

We are overjoyed to be able to introduce Polygon (previously Matic Network) as an official partner to the 2021 Moralis Hackathon. Both Polygon and we are excited to see what projects will come out of the hackathon, which runs from now until June 15th, 2021. The Moralis Hackathon lets developers face off in building Web3 applications (dApps) using Moralis’ innovative backend tools.

”Moralis is truly a one-of-a-kind solution that saves devs both time and money,” said Sandeep Nailwal, Co-Founder and COO of Polygon. “The hackathon is an incredible initiative to support developers in building quality dApps, and for new developers to learn the APIs and technologies of all partners partaking in the hackathon.”

”Partnering with Polygon for the 2021 Moralis Hackathon is a fantastic opportunity for us, Polygon, and the community alike. We’re really looking forward to seeing what participants decide to build using our partners’ technologies,” added Ivan on Tech, Founder of Moralis.

The 2021 Moralis Hackathon features a total prize pool of $50,000 for the winning projects. Specifically, a jury will select three hackathon winners following the contest’s deadline on June 15th, 2021. As such, be sure to submit your project before the June 15th deadline! The project that comes in first place will be awarded a grand prize of $30,000, while the runner-up will win a $15,000 prize, and the project that comes in third place will receive $5,000.

The rules are simple. Participants just need to use Moralis to build their project, although they are highly encouraged also to use 2021 Moralis Hackathon partners’ technologies, such as Polygon’s. Moralis is a free, fully managed, and infinitely scalable backend infrastructure for building Web3 applications and dApps. In short, this allows for fast and hassle-free Web3 development!

Polygon Hackathon Example Use Cases

Contestants in the 2021 Moralis Hackathon are free to build any type of project they come up with themselves. However, if you need some inspiration, we’ve taken the liberty to suggest some projects that you could build with Polygon in mind. If you need even more inspiration, be sure to check out Polygon’s GitHub repo for developers. Also, for those more technically inclined, Polygon has got a tutorial library, official documentation, and developer quick-start resources.

Please also check out the Moralis tutorial to building a real-time transaction cross-chain dApp and sync your users between Ethereum and Matic (nowadays known as Polygon). This video example uses Polygon’s Layer 2 solution and demonstrates just how easy it is to build with Polygon using Moralis. Also, take a closer look at the great Polygon community-built resource available at awesomepolygon.com.

What is Polygon?

Polygon brands itself as the first well-structured, easy-to-use platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Polygon effectively transforms Ethereum into a full-fledged multi-chain system (aka an Internet of Blockchains). This multi-chain system is akin to other ones such as Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche, etc., but with at least three significant upsides compared to those:

  1. It is able to benefit from Ethereum’s network effects fully.
  2. It is inherently more secure.
  3. It is more open and powerful.

Polygon SDK will support other major Layer 2 solutions such as Optimistic Rollups, zkRollups, Validium, etc. As such, Polygon essentially aims to become a one-of-a-kind “Layer 2 aggregator”.

Polygon’s scaling solutions have already seen widespread adoption with over 140 dApps, ~17 million txns, and ~320,000 unique wallets, making it the only production-ready chain – enabling high-quality user experiences for top dApps like Polymarket, Aave, Aavegotchi, Decentral Games, and Neon District.
